Favor Flavor

The Dream Match was not a title fight, but was highly anticipated by boxing fans around world. On paper, Manny 'Pac Man' Pacquiao was the obvious underdog, moving up from the 135-pound class to the 147-pound class, and fighting Oscar 'Golden Boy' De La Hoya, a boxing icon who has fought in the 160 pound division. Also, Pacquiao was disadvantaged in height, built, reach, and experience. Before the fight started, a lot of people commented that the fight was a mismatch, with De La Hoya being the sure winner.
All the speculation ended when Pacquiao virtually had all the 8
rounds, with the scorecards reflecting 79-72, 80-71, and 80-71.Pacquiao
won by TKO in the eight round when the De La Hoya corner no longer
wished to continue with the bout at the
bell of the 9th round.
The end result was indeed a mismatch, in favor of Manny Pacquiao.

Brock Lesnar became the second man to win the heavyweight championship
in his fourth fight in the UFC. He achieved this feat by beating 5-time
UFC champion and UFC Hall of Famer Randy "The Natural" Couture by TKO
on the 2nd round of the bout.
Considering that Lesnar had a weight, size and age advantage, I really
wanted Couture to win the fight and retain his heavyweight championship
belt. Couture was actually doing fine (and was sort of leading in my
personal score card) before he got hit by Lesnar on the left temple.
This setup Lesnar's vicious pounding while Couture was on the mat.
Kenny Florian beats Joe Stevenson by rear naked choke on the 1st round.
This makes Florian the number one contender to BJ Penn's lightweight
belt. Florian vs Penn would definitely be an interesting fight.

Anderson Silva defended his UFC Middleweight title against Patrick
Cote. Silva wasn't the usual human wrecking machine during the bout,
making Cote the first opponent to survive into the third round. Cote
unfortunately injured his right knee in the second round, and this knee
completely failed him in the first part of the third round. Silva won
by TKO (Cote cannot continue) at 0:39 in the 3rd round.

Michael "The Count" Bisping scored a unanimous three round decision
against Chris "The Crippler" Leben. The scores were 30-27, 30-27, and
29-28 for Bisping. With the win, Bisping ups his record to 18-1; Leben
drops to 18-5.
“It was a tough fight,” said Bisping. “That was the whole gameplan,
take my time, stick and move, and get a unanimous decision.”
On the other hand, Keith Jardine won against Brandon Vera by Split
Decision. The scores were 29-28, 29-28, and 28-29 for Jardine.
It's sad that Brandon Vera lost his first fight at light heavyweight.
